Session 1 Review

Skyward red line (commitment threshold)- 9
Nits not ever rewarded- 6- more like don't reward the fish was the problem
In general, just being more aware of reg 'animal types' and what this means - 3
No PF spew - 8
Not too many ridiculous call downs to affect the above - 9
Some creative play in there - 8

I lost $279 this session, which puts paid to winning all 10! I'll just have to win the next 9.

Just to talk about the commitment threshold stuff, it's basically saying that after X % of effective stacks has gone into the pot, then I'm never looking to fold. This X number is much much lower than you might think, and means that I have to make very early commitment decisions, either to run a multi street bluff or to call down with my hand.

No-one told Tempe though.

Now, with the above, obviously the flop call is standardly a raise. However, with him betting so small I feel like he's basically challenging any nutted hand to raise (given stacks and the flush draw and the straight draw) there and then. If no raise goes in, then he feels good to go with whatever hand he has and/ or barrel me off it. So, I call to 'remove' from my range hands like sets/ two pair etc. Importantly too, we can still get stacks in given it's 3way and he can go bet bet bet and I call call shove.

His shove is iffy obviously, maybe thought I'd bet fold 2 pair. Hmm.

I lost around $1700 this session in failed bluffs. I'm less sad though in my decisions to bluff the rivers (all rivers) than I am allowing the pot to get so big that I was forced to bluff.

This hand:

Now, my problem here is just not having a concrete read on the guy. Turns out to be quite fishy. And, without a read, I should just check the turn and maybe pick off a bluff on the river. As it were, I thought 'no reg is ever bet calling 2nd pair here, nutted hands 3bet this flop', so went for a bet/ jam. Ce la vie.

Some bluffs did work though, I'll post 4 here without results, of which some worked and others didn't.

So, I'm not unhappy. Session 2 goals remain the same, albeit to maybe stop bluffing fish as well. I'll file this under awareness of animal types.

Is all, dan

JJ: Hate the flat. You are raising that board with so much stuff and there are so many hands that he will play back with and there are turns that slow down your action. Also, his play is retarded on the river, flat out retarded.

ATs: I always check the turn. Your so far ahead of most of his draws and when he doesn't have a draw you just fuck yourself. Check and give him a free one.

87s is fine, you don't even need to raise that much on the river though.

Qts I wouldn't bet that flop. We don't have a hand that needs to bluff, we don't have a hand that wants to build a pot. Obviously the tripple is mandatory, but do that with Jc9c not QT.

That 97s is pure weird. I wouldn't bluff him. Your right when you say you are praying for a fold.
