Some Hands

I still haven't checked my overall results since the last blog. I am aware though of winning 6 days on the bounce since the blog, so hopefully this totals some meaningful amount.

Just played a session and games were so bad for some reason, they are normally exquisite at this time of day. I quickly ran up $353 though by winning a flip and some medium pots and called it a day so I could make a video. The video didn't happen though, obviously, so I thought I'd throw up here some of my marked and for whatever reason interesting hands of late.

Ok so this hand is standard/ boring, but it just struck me as a huge 'games are dead' hand. Like, WTF is he doing? To get an idea of how bad this is on his part, my CR stat over the last 3 months is 4%. That's because I CC all weak hands and medium hands and bluffs, and hardly ever even CR strong hands. So I very nearly went CC here on the flop thinking hmm will get too much credit. Instead he literally snapped each and every street, and this from a reg. 4% CR ! I guess moral of the story is that nobody cares and we should worry mostly about our opponents frequencies rather than our own.

I've been playing a fair amount of deep games lately. Just a lot more fun and much more room to be creative. If any of ever feel a little stale with 100bbs just try it out. The games are pretty insane though, tons of 3bet/4bet/5bet bluffing and then little ol' me trying to adjust to it all.

This reg JeanDitPipi is a huge winner in these games and for a while he completely owned me with hero calls and thin vBets in huge pots etc. I really feel I have him figured out now though. Essentially his game is similar to mine of 2009, plenty of depolarised 3bets and 4bets, and depolarised CRs and turn flop raises. He's basically looking to induce bluffs and then snap call them, while not running many huge bluffs himself (but everyone calls him anyway 'cos he plays like 35/30/15% 3bet). It'll be interesting in the coming months to see if he's re-adjusted to my adjustment of him, ie in this spot VS him I have zero% bluffs for now .........

Another deep hand. Loved the flop spot because I have a million reads on this guy deep. Basically he pot controls absolutely everything in 3bet and 4bet pots deep, so AA he might cbet a very dry board but will check almost any turn. If the board gets a little wetter on the flop, AA-QQ is getting snap checked. So obv makes this a super sick CR, like must have a 90% situational success or something I reckon.

Another interesting deep spot. I basically take the kind of line I mentioned earlier, with a depolarised raise intending to bluffcatch VS certain reactions, and folding to others. In this spot we're going to be able to apply enough pressure to these two specific players that everything except sets is eventually going to fold. Initial raise snap calls PF so I rule out AA/KK, while 6 sets are possible (though reduced based on frequencies) but we're going to find out fairly quick. If one peels with an OESD we can read that pretty well and end up tilting one of them at showdown.

One last thing, I've been playing around with betsizing a lot recently. It's like I forgot again how important it is. Capping flop ranges (and inducing way wider flop peels) with small betsizing is a particular favourite, while overbetting rivers and underbetting turns in commitment spots all make me super happy too. Will make a blog on this at some point.

nice hands man.The only one that is really suspect is the qjss ch r on flop cos u just dont have anything in ur value range here. But then again if he s not superovbservant.

Golden rule for me: opponent has nothing >>>>>>>>>>> we rep nothing.

and anyway we rep plenty imo when we 3bet/ flat 4bet

Zaza said...

what do we rep?
we dont have middling cards to flat oop.and none of the sets?
but ye i get ur point about him not having enough made strong hands in his range.hard to fight back for him with how big the pot is, unless he wants to commit and go allin.
